Travillion --- Stage Leader, Trombone
His musical career started at North Bend (OR) High in the late ‘50s
when he and several other student musicians formed a Dixieland Jazz Band
called the Caldonians. Wayne earned his degree in music from the University
of Oregon.
His
first teaching position was at Junction City as High School Band Director.
Then he became music director for the public schools in Honolulu. Wayne
backed many show groups that toured Hawaii, formed his own band and played
with jazz greats Trummy Young, Danny Barcelona and John Norris.
While
there, he was selected as State Teacher of the Year.
Wayne currently serves as Director of Human Resources for the Reynolds
School District in Troutdale, OR. He joined the OJB in the mid ‘80s
and capably continues to lead the band, carrying on in the Bill Borcher
Tradition.
