Cox --- Trumpet
Ever a student of music, Vicki is a strong supporter of educational programs
and jazz clinics for pupils of ALL ages. Although she took up the trumpet
as early as the fifth grade, she did not start playing “real”
jazz until recent years. Thanks to the innovation of ADULT traditional
jazz camps in San Diego and Sacramento, she made the transition from strictly
reading music on printed pages to jazz improvisation “from the heart”.
Vicki studied music at the University of Oregon, was a bandsman with the
133rd Army Band in Washington, currently plays in bands ranging from polka
to big band swing and leads her own successful band, Calamity Jazz.
She feels honored to carry on the tradition started by Bill Borcher and
is proud to fill his grand shoes as the trumpet/cornet player with his
Oregon Jazz Band.
