‘Boom Boom’ Dawes --- Percussion
Jack studied at Drum City in Hollywood, CA. He began his career in the
‘50s playing jazz, rock ‘n roll and cowboy music in clubs
and coffee houses in Southern California and by making numerous TV commercials.
Jack’s day job was in real estate.
In the early 1970s Jack and his family moved to Portland and continued
his career in real estate. Over the years he has played with many Portland
area jazz groups and currently plays with the Jim Beatty Band as well
as the OJB.
His is known throughout the Pacific Northwest for his quiet, gentle nature
and for being the grandfather of Curtis Ochs, an outstanding young musician
who plays bass occasionally with the OJB.
